A note from the author
Free speech is under threat today, even by many who claim to defend it. It’s all fine to speak your mind, unless you disagree with me! The work of writers, artists, musicians, and other creatives is also under threat. While the open Web promised the democratization of content publishing, it also provided a platform for pirates and lounge chair looters – those who believe it’s their right to download and enjoy any and all digital content without paying a cent to the people who create it. If that wasn’t enough, creatives now have to compete with AI bots, who regurgitate their work in seconds without so much as a “thank you” let alone any form of payment.
Yes, these terms of use are an assertion of our legal rights, but they are more than that. They are a humble and heartfelt request to respect free speech and the right of every person to express themselves through creative works.
